Galbraith Extensive Wildlife Habitat Area

Galbraith Extensive Wildlife Habitat Area is a 139-acre property located in Barron County. The Vermillion River with a cattail and sedge marsh runs through the property. Adjacent grass fields with ponds and mixed hardwood forest provide habitat for ruffed grouse, squirrels and deer. Find it east of Cumberland 3 miles on Highway 48 then south 2 miles on 10th Street Property is on your right.

Management

The property was purchased through the Extensive Wildlife Habitat Area (EWHA) program. Ponds were dug and prairie grasses were planted on the adjacent fields. These fields are periodically burned to maintain waterfowl and upland bird nesting habitat.

The Galbraith Extensive Wildlife Habitat Area offers many recreational opportunities.
