Common activitiesBroad Incidental Take Permit/Authorization

This Broad Incidental Take Permit/Authorization (BITP/A) for common activities allows for the "incidental taking" of specific endangered and threatened species that may occur as a result of activities occurring regularly across the landscape. The department recognizes that these common activities, including streambank stabilization, stream crossings and pipeline inspection/maintenance, have been issued individual Incidental Take Permits/Authorizations with identical minimization and mitigation measures in the past. Therefore, the department has issued this BITP/A to cover these regularly occurring activities for specific endangered and threatened species including: Blanchard’s cricket frog (Acris crepitans), wood turtle (Glyptemys insculpta), slender glass lizard (Ophisaurus attenuatus) and all endangered and threatened fish species.

Criteria and protocols

Activities are only covered under this permit/authorization if all general criteria are met and the corresponding protocols are followed (see below). Specific protocols may also require submission of the closing report form [PDF] and/or species removal datasheet [PDF].
