LTE - GIS Data Services Specialist
This position's primary responsibilities include the implementation and oversight of geographic information systems (GIS) and application to the Parks and Recreation Management (PRM) program by overseeing GIS data collection; processing GIS data, and maintaining GIS data. Other duties include developing and managing the PRM Program's web maps and feature services; analyzing data requirements; performing spatial data analyses; creating GIS-based maps. In addition this position will research and present in visual format property-based lands issues and assist with data quality assurance/quality control to support PRM Program business needs.
The DNR would like to hire this position in tandem with the GIS Systems Development Services Specialist. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for both positions.
40% - Geospatial data development, analysis, presentation & maintenance
- Development of procedures and processes for program GIS data. Creation of maps and graphic representations for publications, social media, and other program needs.
40% - Data and Records Research
Research and review of existing department and county records, including georeferencing paper maps.
20% - Data Management
- Processing and updating of GIS data collected from the field and other resources. Working with field staff, other department programs, and the public to make available the most current GIS data for Bureau of Parks and Recreation Management Properties.
Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in using ESRI tools and data structures
- Proficiency in using GIS data in Google Earth and creating Google Earth files from GIS data
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator
- Experience in gathering and processing GIS data Experience performing spatial data analysis and visualization
- Knowledge of geographic reference systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft Publisher and Adobe InDesign
- Experience managing geospatial data projects
- Experience providing geospatial data to customers
- Database management experience
- Experience leading others in GIS initiatives
