Job Description:

LTE - Campground Manager

The Northern Highland American Legion State Forest has a unique work experience for those who enjoy camping and interacting with people. The state forest is hiring 4 campground managers to live and work at either our Big Lake, Upper Gresham, Sandy Beach, or Starrett Lake Campgrounds. This position will be the front-line staff member who will interact with campers at these campgrounds. Campground managers are required to live in the campground they are assigned to and perform customer service as well as landscaping and maintenance duties. Applicants must be able to provide their own camping unit (hard-sided is preferred). A generator will be provided.

45% - Direct and perform the maintenance of grounds and facilities to ensure they conform to established standards to include mow grass, pick up litter, clean public use areas and beaches, painting, maintaining restrooms and campsites, remove trees and brush, repair and maintain trail surfaces, operate vehicles and light equipment and perform repairs and maintenance to equipment and buildings.

45% - Greet visitors, register campers, collect and account for fees and disseminate information. Issue admission receipts in accordance with established guidelines. Provide answers to visitor questions concerning the specific forest area, as well as explain the area's recreational opportunities, interpretive services, and campground availability.

10% - Remitting monies collected, fiscal and inventory record keeping. NOTE: Due to the fiduciary responsibilities of this position, a background check will be conducted.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge and experience of general maintenance operations
- Ability to project a positive attitude, work independently, be self-motivated and punctual
- Experience handling cash
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to work a modified work schedule; including nights, weekends, holidays, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with landscaping and grounds maintenance
- Knowledge and experience working with computers
- Applicants may be required to use personal vehicle for traveling between campground and visitor station. Miles will be reimbursed.
