Job Description:

LTE - Facilities Repair Worker

The Northern Highland American Legion State Forest is hiring 2 seasonal staff members who will perform a crucial role in maintaining the state forest through the busy season. These positions primarily work in our campgrounds to maintain them to our high expectations. The positions offer a great experience and possible stepping stone for future work with the DNR, in recreation, or in natural resources management. Some employees in these positions will work mid-April to mid-October and some will work approximately Memorial Day to Labor Day.

50% - Perform cleaning in forest use areas - daily cleaning of campground toilet/shower facilities, cleaning fire rings and grills, picking up litter, etc.

45% - Perform various maintenance tasks in use areas - painting, lawn mowing, light carpentry, brush cutting, hazard tree cutting, repairing picnic tables, and other miscellaneous maintenance duties.

5% - Conduct safety inspections and identify hazards.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
- Ability to follow an assigned work plan with minimal oversight
- Ability to complete repetitive tasks with a positive attitude
- Willingness to use a chainsaw for storm clean up and to cut hazard trees (appropriate training will be provided)
- Must have valid driver's license and meet requirements to drive a state vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with cleaning/janitorial work
- Experience in light maintenance and landscaping
- Experience using a variety of hand and power tools
- High level of attention to detail
