Job Description: Hydrogeologist - WDOT

This position is the WDNR lead on contaminated sites identified during WDOT road construction projects. The responsibilities of this position include maintaining of LUST/RR files and case review with preparation of recommendations. This position will review WDOT related cases to determine status and initiate review. This position will maintain communication with WDOT staff on a regular basis to ensure that mutually agreed upon priorities are meet.

80% This position is the WDNR lead on contaminated sites identified during WDOT road construction projects. The responsibilities of this position include maintaining of LUST/RR files and case review with preparation of recommendations. This position will review WDOT related cases to determine status and initiate review. This position will maintain communication with WDOT staff on a regular basis to ensure that mutually agreed upon priorities are meet.

15% Consult with and provide technical assistance to RR and other WDNR program personnel, consultants, potential responsible parties (RPs), public officials, members of the public, and other agencies.

5% Assist Program in reviewing stalled cases and try to facilitate progress.

Knowledge Required:

Qualifications:
- Knowledge of geology and hydrogeology is necessary to assess the sensitivity of sites to environmental impacts and damage by reviewing soil maps, geologic surveys, well logs, soil and groundwater data, etc.
- This position would also be required to review monitoring data and responsible party remediation assessment reports for adherence to WNDR guidelines and standard hydrogeologic principles.
- Additionally, oral and written presentation skills and interpersonal skills are necessary to complete the assigned tasks.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work alone and prioritize multiple work tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- Valid driver's license.

Note: This half time (20 hours/week) position may be hired in conjunction with the Hydrogeologist PECFA position - Job ID 13283 to work full time (40 hours/week).
