Job Description: Regional HVAC/Refrigeration Specialist - LTE

This position is an LTE in the Facilities Operations Section, Bureau of Facilities and Lands, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The person in this position will work under the direction of the Facilities Management Section Chief, and the Regional Facilities Operations Manager (FOM) for the assigned geographic area. This position will perform Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) maintenance and repair, facility maintenance, building and grounds operations, and administrative duties at Regional Administrative Facilities in the Milwaukee area, primarily serving DNR Service Center in Milwaukee at 2300 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

Duties include performing routine preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs and installs for HVAC systems and their controls. This includes cleaning or replacing filters for heating and ventilating equipment and establishing a preventive maintenance schedule on equipment and systems throughout the region. In addition, this position will review computer output and individual staff complaints to locate, identify and troubleshoot controls, equipment, and system malfunctions. The HVAC Specialist will also be responsible for starting and stopping chillers as required to meet seasonal cooling requirements. This position will perform a variety of other duties related to HVAC maintenance and repair, facilities maintenance, building and grounds operations and the procurement and maintenance of supplies, furniture, and moveable equipment.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
1. Skills to build effective working relationships, to work in a team and with groups, to negotiate with internal staff from multiple programs and levels of an organization, and in providing excellent customer service.
2. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, multi-task and prioritize to ensure time sensitive and critical tasks are addressed.
3. Skills in computer software including word processing, spreadsheet applications, E-Mail applications and document management.
4. Knowledge in heating, cooling and ventilation (HVAC) systems.
5. Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Knowledge of building envelope maintenance including roofs, exterior walls, foundations, siding, insulation, exterior doors, and windows.
2. Knowledge in interior building maintenance and operations including, plumbing systems, electrical systems, security systems, telephone systems, interior doors, ceilings, walls, flooring, restrooms, and general safety.
3. Knowledge in building site maintenance and operations, including landscaping, parking lots, sidewalks, general safety, and security.
4. Ability to establish relationships with contractors and vendors used for construction, building, landscaping, snowplowing and other facilities services.
