Job Description: Wildlife Technician Advanced - LTE

The Department of Natural Resources is hiring a Wildlife Technician Advanced stationed in the Navarino Field Office!

The Wildlife Technician Advanced position will be responsible for assisting with the planning, development and implementation of habitat management initiatives in Shawano, Outagamie, Waupaca, and Winnebago counties.

70% Use department computer systems to schedule and map habitat management activities. Prepare firebreaks for grassland management. Manage wetland infrastructure and repairs, as well as other contract work. Mark timber and check on forest management operations.

20% Assist with property management, including assessments of boundary posting, parking lots, and other infrastructure and effectively communicate needs to maintenance staff.

10% Reporting and other metrics: complete and enter sharecrop, pesticide use, fleet vehicle, and other reports. Compile data for other assessments as needed.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
- Candidates for this position should have a working knowledge of wildlife management techniques pertaining to common Wisconsin habitat types.
- Knowledge and experience with equipment operation and maintenance including ATV's, boats, and tractors.
- Knowledge of or familiar with wildlife survey techniques.
- Basic understanding of mapping and location of property lines and monuments.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with application of habitat management and wildlife survey techniques
- Current equipment use certifications

Note: This half time (20 hours/week) position may be hired in conjunction with the Wildlife Technician position - Job ID 13129 to work full time (40 hours/week). Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for both positions.
