The Northern Highland American Legion State Forest will be hiring up to 8 Visitor Services Associates to work in our Clear Lake Visitor Station (Woodruff) and Crystal Lake Visitor Station (Boulder Junction) and act as the first point of contact for all our visitors to the state forest. The NHAL SF is a unique property to work on with 18 campgrounds, over 900 lakes, 40 miles of designated hiking / biking trails, and numerous other recreational opportunities. It is a rewarding place to work and an excellent stepping stone to a career in natural resources, customer service, or for those looking for a fun seasonal job.
These positions will be responsible for greeting visitors, collecting and accounting for fees and disseminating information. This work requires the use of computers, credit card machines, answering telephones, and fiscal duties. This position will also provide answers to visitor questions concerning the state forest, as well as explain the area's recreational opportunities.
Job hours will range between 24 - 40 hrs / week. Jobs will begin mid-May and there may be opportunity to work until mid-October, however many jobs will end around Labor Day.
Dormitory style housing is available on property for $100 / month.
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge and experience working with computers
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and public
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior customer service experience
- Experience working with a financial responsibility or handling cash accurately
- Ability to work a modified schedule; nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
