Job Description: Facilities Repair Worker - LTE

The Northern Highland American Legion State Forest a Facilities Repair Worker who will perform a crucial role in maintaining the state forest through the busy season. This position primarily works in our campgrounds to maintain them to our high expectations. The position offers a great experience and possible stepping stone for future work with the DNR or in natural resource management.

This position is anticipated to work approximately Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Dormitory style housing is available at work location for $100/month.

90% Perform maintenance tasks in public use areas throughout the state forest. Tasks will include daily cleaning of campground toilet facilities/showers, painting, lawn mowing, light carpentry, brush cutting, picking up litter, cleaning fire rings, cutting hazard trees and repairing picnic tables and other miscellaneous maintenance duties.

10% Conduct safety inspections and identify hazards.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
1. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
2. Ability to follow an assigned work plan with minimal oversight.
3. Ability to complete repetitive tasks with a positive attitude.
4. Willingness to use a chainsaw for storm clean up and to cut hazard trees (appropriate training will be provided).
5. Must have valid driver's license and meet requirements to drive a state vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with cleaning/janitorial work.
2. Experience in light maintenance and landscaping.
3. High level of attention to detail.
