Job Description: Natural Resources Program Specialist - LTE

Serve as the Department of Natural Resources program specialist and main point of contact for the Green & Healthy Schools Wisconsin program (GHS). The mission of GHS is to empower, support, and recognize schools for nurturing healthy kids and sustainable communities. GHS is administered through a partnership between the Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Public Instruction and the Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education.

70% Provide leadership and administer the Green & Healthy Schools Wisconsin program (GHS) through partner collaboration amongst the Department of Natural Resources, Department of Public Instruction and Wisconsin Center for Environmental Education. Coordinate and conduct outreach meetings with statewide agencies, pK-12 schools and various stakeholders. Provide logistical support for summits, workshops, conferences, etc. Provide technical assistance to GHS Wisconsin schools (answer questions, lend support, serve as main contact, etc.) Represent GHS at workshops, conferences, trainings, meetings, etc., including occasionally giving presentations, serving on panels, and staffing exhibit booths.

15% Aid in the creation of media materials for the program (press releases, brochures, posters, etc.); Aid in the maintenance of the GHS Wisconsin website and social media sites; maintain a GHS Wisconsin records database and generate reports. Coordinate administration team, take meeting minutes, develop agendas, keep team on task, meeting and presentation logistics, etc.

10% Design, promote and evaluate recycling education workshops for preK-12 teachers, youth leaders and informal educators to introduce waste reduction and recycling education and activities into classrooms, community programs, etc.

5% Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
- A combination of training and experience in project management; communications; sustainability; the green and healthy schools movement; social marketing techniques; environmental education issues; and waste reduction, reuse and recycling issues;
- Excellent verbal and written communication;
- Be a positive representative, display an upbeat attitude and high degree of professionalism and provide leadership for the program;
- Experience working with diverse groups in an educational setting;
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of statewide stakeholders while also independently tackling mission based activities;
- Comfortable working both independently and collaborating with team members remotely using cloud-based computing solutions;
- Strong detail-orientation and self-motivation skills and an ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and partners;
- Strong computer skills (database management, Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite).
