Job Description: Fisheries Technician - LTE

Assist Heavy Equipment Operator in daily operations and maintenance of heavy equipment including hydraulic dredge, posi-track vehicle, crawler/loader, forklift and dump truck. Work will be conducted in association with rehabilitation of spawning habitat and living space for trout in spring ponds.

50% Position will assist with maintenance of dredge, posi-track vehicle and other related equipment. Assist with daily safety inspection of equipment. Assist with proper loading, securing and transporting of heavy equipment.

35% Position will assist with the operation of hydraulic dredge, posi-track vehicle, crawler/loader and forklift. Position will be required to safely operate powersaws, pumps and outboard motors.

10% Position will be required to assist habitat crews with stream habitat projects, beaver control projects and general equipment maintenance.

5% Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
1. Experience with diesel powered equipment operation.
2. Experience with safe operation of power equipment such as pumps, chainsaws and winches.
3. Ability to lift 75 pounds under uneven slippery ground conditions.
4. Experience with operation of tracked vehicles.
5. Must be willing to work inclement weather.
6. Ability to work independently, be self motivated and punctual.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Commercial Drivers License (preferred but not required)
