Hourly Rate: $12.000 per hour.

Job Description: Fisheries Technician - LTE

Position will assist with spawning, rearing, pond harvest, and distribution of walleye, rainbow trout, and northern pike. Independently monitor water quality parameters in rearing units. Mowing, weed control, and maintenance of equipment and facilities. Assist in the lab with water chemistry testing for ponds and the walleye recirculation rearing system.

35% Independently feed fish, observe behavior, and monitor feeding activities. Clean tanks, raceways, and ponds.

15% Independently perform water quality monitoring such as dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, nitrogen gas saturation, and turbidity. Assist with lab analysis of water samples for pond fertilization and walleye recirculation system.

10% Assist in seining and loading fish for distribution.Assist in spawning and hatching of eggs, egg picking, fry clean up and distribution to start tanks and production ponds.

15% Assist with seining, moving, and sorting fish in ponds and tanks. Collect, weigh, and measure samples of fish weekly to monitor fish growth, condition, and make feed adjustments.

25% Maintain hatchery grounds to include mowing, weed trimming, construction projects, and small repairs.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
- Some weekend work will be required.
- Position will require some heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to operate a commercial mower and pass a skills test after training.
- Valid WI drivers license.
- This position requires operation of trucks, pumps, mowers, string trimmers, and hand tools.
- Training in the areas of husbandry, ecology, fish and wildlife biology, aquatic ecosystems, etc..

Preferred Qualifications:
- ATV safety certification.
