Job Description: Visitor Services Associate - LTE

These positions work independently performing a variety of duties including camper registration and sticker sales, and providing visitor information. Visitor Services Associates will use credit card readers, and computerized reservation and reporting systems. Knowledge: experience in cash handling and customer service. Cash register and personal computer operation preferred. Employment: work 20-25 hours per week mid-May through Labor Day, must be able to work weekends, evenings, & some holidays. Some spring and fall weekends are also available.

65% Greet visitors, collect and account for fees and disseminate information. Work at entrance stations, campgrounds or other visitor contact stations. Use electronic cash registers, electronic credit card verification equipment and computerized reservation and reporting systems.

25% Provide answers to visitor questions concerning the specific park area, as well as explain the area's recreational opportunities, interpretive services, concessions and campground availability.

10% Distribute brochures, maps and provide directions/routes of travel throughout the park; inform visitors of potential safety hazards

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and public
- Customer service and cash handling experience
- Knowledge and experience working with computers
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and punctual
- Ability to work a modified schedule; nights, weekends, holidays, etc.
- Ability to work in diverse weather conditions for long periods of time.
- Have an interest or knowledge in Wisconsin's Natural Resources.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior work experience in cash handling
- Prior work experience in customer service.
- Prior work experience with State Parks or Forests.
