Job Description: Assistant Naturalist Guide - LTE

Governor Dodge State Park has a part time Naturalist/Interpretive position available to provide interpretive, educational and environmental programs and hike for park visitors.

35% Develop educational/naturalist programs for the property; prepare information about the park's natural and human history.

35% Conduct nature hikes and programs to educate park visitors on the property's natural features, flora, fauna, environmental and wildlife issues. Conduct property interpretive and environmental education programs for park visitors.

20% Develop a schedule of weekend programs to be provided for the season including naturalist led programs/hikes and occasional guest speaker programs.

10% Promote property's interpretive and education programs through promotional materials, media releases and other outreach methods. Develop and produce a manual of interpretive program scripts and resources.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
- Experience developing and conducting interpretive nature programs for a variety of audiences.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:
- A background in natural resources, natural sciences, wildlife/forestry or related field recommended.
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Weekend and evening hours required, including holidays.
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions.
