Job Description: Facilities Repair Worker

The Northern Highland American Legion State Forest is hiring seasonal staff who perform a crucial role in maintaining the state forest through the busy season. These positions primarily work in our campgrounds to maintain them to our high expectations, and offers a great experience and stepping stone for future work with the DNR or in natural resource management.

100% Perform maintenance tasks in public use areas throughout the state forest. Tasks will include daily cleaning of campground toilet facilities, painting, lawn mowing, carpentry, brush cutting, picking up litter, cleaning fire rings, cutting hazard trees and repairing picnic tables and other miscellaneous maintenance duties. Construct and repair trails, boarding docks, boat ramps and bulletin boards. Conduct safety inspections and identify hazards.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
1. Ability to work as part of a team.
2. Ability to follow an assigned work plan with minimal oversight.
3. Ability to use light equipment including mowers, weed trimmers, blowers, and hand held power tools.
4. Willingness to use a chainsaw to cut hazard trees (training in chainsaw use and safety as well as CPR/First Aid will be provided)
5. Applicant must have a valid driver's license and meet requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience in light maintenance and landscaping
2. Complete repetitive tasks with a positive attitude.
3. Ability to learn quickly.

Additional Information:

Dormitory style housing is available at the rate of $75 per month.
