Job Description: Visitor Services Associate

The Northern Highland - American Legion State Forest is hiring Visitor Services Associates for its two visitor stations: Clear Lake (Woodruff) and Crystal Lake (Boulder Junction). These positions are our front-line staff who greet visitors, collect camping and admission fees, disseminate information on the state forest and local area. This is a fast-paced environment and is a fun job for people who enjoy interacting with people, excel at customer service, and enjoy our great outdoors.

65% Greet visitors, collect and account for fees and disseminate information. Work at ranger stations, campgrounds or other visitor contact stations. Use electronic cash registers, electronic credit card verification equipment and computerized reservation and reporting systems. Issue admission receipts in accordance with established guidelines.

25% Provide answers to visitor questions concerning the specific forest area, as well as explain the area's recreational opportunities, interpretive services, and campground availability. Distribute brochures and maps and provide directions/routes of travel throughout the forest; inform visitors of potential safety hazards.

10% Remitting monies collected, fiscal and inventory record keeping.

Knowledge Required:

Required Qualifications:
- Ability to provide consistent, positive customer service
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Experience working on a desktop computer using a Windows interface

Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to learn a large amount of information quickly and to use available documentation to independently resolve customer issues
- Knowledge of the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest (or an ability to learn the details of a large property)
- Previous experience with financial transactions and record-keeping

These positions require weekend, evening and holiday work hours.
Dormitory-style housing is available for a rate of $75/month.
