Duration: Job starts approximately February 19, 2018

Job Description: Fisheries Technician - LTE

65% Survey - Duties include, but are not limited to; assisting with fisheries population surveys throughout southeast WI. Collect fisheries community information from lakes and streams within southeast WI including but not limited to: lake netting and electrofishing surveys, wadable and non-wadable stream surveys and age estimation of various fish species. Operate, maintain and repair equipment utilized during fisheries surveys including: fyke nets, dip nets, electrofishing gear, boats, outboards, trucks, and trailers. Accurately record data collected in the field on appropriate field forms following established WDNR protocols. Accurately and efficiently process data collected on paper and, with proper training, enter survey data into WDNR database as required according to WDNR standards. Address questions from general public when necessary.

25% Habitat - Inspect, maintain and prepare equipment for field operations. Operate light and heavy equipment safely and effectively. Complete necessary DNR Fisheries certifications for operating Department light and heavy equipment. Assist in staging and coordinating in-stream habitat projects.

10% General Fisheries shop maintenance and office duties in support of the Fisheries Management program.

Knowledge Required: Valid Wisconsin driver's license. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions. Occasional night and weekend work required.
