Hourly Rate: Between $10.00 - $11.50 per hour depending on experience and training.

Job Description: Assistant Naturalist Guide-LTE

60% Prepare and conduct property interpretive and environmental education programs for park users, including nature hikes and weekly shoreline kayak tours, utilizing a variety of presentation methods and techniques.

20% Staff the Nature Center, including light maintenance and cleaning; provide direction for Nature Center volunteers in the absence of the FTE Natural Resource Educator.

10% Assist with maintenance, cleaning and development of Nature Center displays.

10% Keep and maintain accurate records and reports related to property interpretive services provided and phenology.

Knowledge Required: Oral and written communication skills; understanding of environmental concepts; basic understanding of interpretive methods and techniques related to program planning and delivery; basic understanding of Wisconsin flora and fauna (specific knowledge of Door County and/or Peninsula State Park helpful); ability to research for accurate information; excellent customer service skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to complete online DNR boater safety course.

Training and Experience: Past experience in conducting education programs. Candidates enrolled in college or who have completed a natural sciences and/or education program preferred. The candidate must be willing to conduct programs for children and enjoy working with families.

Additional Information: This position will start approximately May 14, 2017 and last through Labor Day. Additional fall work may be available. This position requires weekend, holiday and occasional night work.

You will be required to attend an on-boarding session prior to your start date at the property. More information to follow related to date, time, and location.

Housing is available on the property.
