Arrow Branch, in the Lower Grant River Watershed, is a 5.10 mile river that falls in Grant County. This river is managed for fishing and swimming and is currently not considered impaired.

Beginning in south central Grant County, this stream flows southwest entering Boice Creek two miles northwest of Potosi. Willow Creek, its only tributary, enters the central portions of the stream from the southeast. It is a fast-flowing spring-fed stream with gravel and sand being the dominant bottom types. Heavy bank erosion is found in many portions. A small forage fish population constitutes the main fishery, however, a few fingerling smallmouth bass may be found in the lower reaches. Game assets are limited to a few muskrat, raccoon, deer, squirrels, and ruffed grouse. Public access is possible at one bridge crossing and through private lands with permission.

Wisconsin's Water Quality Standards provide qualitative and quantitative goals for waters that are protective of Fishable, Swimmable conditions [Learn more]. Waters that do not meet water quality standards are considered impaired and restoration actions are planned and carried out until the water is once again fishable and swimmable

Monitoring the condition of a river, stream, or lake includes gathering physical, chemical, biological, and habitat data. Comprehensive studies often gather all these parameters in great detail, while lighter assessment events will involve sampling physical, chemical and biological data such as macroinvertebrates. Aquatic macroinvertebrates and fish communities integrate watershed or catchment condition, providing great insight into overall ecosystem health. Chemical and habitat parameters tell researchers more about human induced problems including contaminated runoff, point source dischargers, or habitat issues that foster or limit the potential of aquatic communities to thrive in a given area. Arrow Branch is located in the Lower Grant River watershed which is 129.75 mi². Land use in the watershed is primarily agricultural (56%), grassland (25.40%) and a mix of forest (16.50%) and other uses (1.90%). This watershed has 310.53 stream miles, 33.46 lake acres and 298.95 wetland acres.
