Onemile Lake, in the Totagatic River Watershed, is a 20.02 acre lake that falls in Douglas County. This lake is managed for fishing and swimming and is currently not considered impaired.

Source: 1973, Surface Water Resources of Douglas County Onemile Lake, T43N, R12W, Section 12, Surface Acres-38.7,Maximum Depth-6 feet, M.P.A.-8 ppm, Secchi Disk- Bottom A soft water seepage lake, it is landlocked and subject to winterkill conditions. Its fishery, if any, is limited to minnows, Floating-leafed vegetation covers most of the surface of the lake, and surrounding it is a margin of sedge meadow and tag alder, with some bog at the south end. The upland beyond is covered by jack pine and scrub oak. The lake bottom is covered by muck and soft organic materials. The lake has importance as a waterfowl producer of puddle ducks and has significant migration importance to diving ducks and coots. There is no private development of the shore since all of the frontage is Douglas County Forest land. Public access is available by walk-in trail.

Monitoring the condition of a river, stream, or lake includes gathering physical, chemical, biological, and habitat data. Comprehensive studies often gather all these parameters in great detail, while lighter assessment events will involve sampling physical, chemical and biological data such as macroinvertebrates. Aquatic macroinvertebrates and fish communities integrate watershed or catchment condition, providing great insight into overall ecosystem health. Chemical and habitat parameters tell researchers more about human induced problems including contaminated runoff, point source dischargers, or habitat issues that foster or limit the potential of aquatic communities to thrive in a given area.
