Fish and Aquatic Life
Hadley Lake, in the West Fork Chippewa River Watershed, is a 58.56 acre lake that falls in Bayfield and Sawyer Counties. This lake is managed for fishing and swimming and is currently not considered impaired.

A soft water drainage lake which is the headwaters of Red Ike
Creek. The outlet has an estimated normal flow of 1.5 cfs. Hadley
Lake's fish Population consists of a few largemouth bass and an
abundant population of perch, with some bluegills and black
crappies. Slow-growing panfish are a problem. A wooded upland of
birch surrounds most of the lake except near the small inlet and
outlet where there is a sedge meadow that provides nesting habitat
for a few ducks. Beaver are also present. The only private
development is a girls camp on the north end of the lake. It has
no Public access road, and nearly all the shoreline except the
north tip that is in Bayfield County is in public ownership as
Chequamegon National Forest lands.

Educate and engage residents
The Town of Spider Lake proposes to develop a Comprehensive Land Use Plan to guide the community in establishing the long range goals, Town ordinances, and the organization of Town Government and citizen groups to protect and enhance the quality of water in our lakes and the natural lake ecosystems.
Wisconsin's Water Quality Standards provide qualitative and quantitative goals for waters that are protective of Fishable, Swimmable conditions [Learn more]. Waters that do not meet water quality standards are considered impaired and restoration actions are planned and carried out until the water is once again fishable and swimmable
Management goals can include creation or implementation of a Total Maximum Daily Load analysis, a Nine Key Element Plan, or other restoration work, education and outreach and more. If specific recommendations exist for this water, they will be displayed below online.
Monitoring the condition of a river, stream, or lake includes gathering physical, chemical, biological, and habitat data. Comprehensive studies often gather all these parameters in great detail, while lighter assessment events will involve sampling physical, chemical and biological data such as macroinvertebrates. Aquatic macroinvertebrates and fish communities integrate watershed or catchment condition, providing great insight into overall ecosystem health. Chemical and habitat parameters tell researchers more about human induced problems including contaminated runoff, point source dischargers, or habitat issues that foster or limit the potential of aquatic communities to thrive in a given area. This watershed is ranked Low for runoff impacts on streams, Low for runoff impacts on lakes and Low for runoff impacts on groundwater and therefore has an overall rank of Low.
