WAUSHARA COUNTY: LCO-County Wide Lake Planning

Purpose

Waushara County is continuing their county-wide study of 33 lakes. All the field work has been completed and Phase 3 involves lake management plan development and distribution of information/data gathered. The following work activities will be completed in Grant 1: 1. Lake plan development a. 33 lakes split into 16 groups with similar municipalities and geography 2. Introduction meeting 3. Information and planning meetings (3 meetings) 4. Public presentation meeting 5. Review of existing regulatory framework a. In particular, zoning regulations and comprehensive plans will be examined 6. Targeted messaging for riparian landowners in Waushara county 7. Lake Fair (August 10, 2013) a. Highlight lake success stories and other relevant information b. Update current efforts and the status of Phase I & II Grants The following deliverables (products) will result from Grant 1: 1. Citizen/User Surveys 2. Lake Management Plans (16 total: 8-10 per year) 3. Targeted messaging for riparian landowners in Waushara county a. Results will be communicated to lake managers around the state b. If selected, an interim report will be presented at the 2014 Wisconsin Lakes Partnership Convention in Stevens Point c. If selected, a final presentation will be given at the 2015 convention and at the North American Lake Management Society Conference. 4. Guideline report generated for County board of adjustment and municipal plan commissions. a. Exceptions to the zoning ordinance. b. Determining the minimum variance necessary 5. The Sponsor will supply the local DNR \2013 Lakes Biologist with one digital and two hard copy reports of each lake management plan and any other reports generated for this project.
