SOUTHWEST BADGER R C & D: Building AIS Knowledge in SW WI

Purpose

SW Badger RC & D will hire an AIS coordinator and two interns to expand AIS knowledge in southwestern Wisconsin. They will survey many river access sites to map known and new populations of AIS, and build partnerships with stakeholder groups and schools in the area. Outreach will include school events, workshops, presentations and media releases using existing publications and materials. All raw data from monitoring will be entered into the SWIMS database, as well as presented in the final report. These inventories will help prioritize control efforts. Boat landing and trout steam access points will have AIS signs installed, and the Bait Dealer Initiative will be implemented. Final reports will be shared with county LWCD's, and information shared in the RC&D newsletter.
