Citizen Lake Monitoring Training - DNR Horicon Service Center - 04/16/2011


This free workshop runs from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm in Dodge County. The workshop will be held in the DNR Horicon Service Center, N7725 Highway28, Horicon, WI 53032. To register, or for more information, contactJennifer Steltepohl, Lake MI Basin AIS Specialist, at (414) 263-8635 orvia e-mail at OR Jay Schiefelbein at(920) 662-5175 or via e-mail at Citizen Lake Monitoring Network (CLMN) Aquatic Invasive Species(AIS) monitoring workshop speakers provide details on aquatic invasivespecies identification and life cycles; instructions on how to organizean effective monitoring team; where and when to look for the invasives;as well as what to do if you suspect that you have found an invasiveplant or animal. Most workshops will offer hands-on training forinvasive species identification. Workshop hosts will offer participantsa monitoring kit at no charge (one free kit per lake). Additional kitsand supplies helpful in assisting you in collection and identificationof the plants and animals may be offered “for sale” at the workshops.These materials are optional, but many volunteers find them useful.
