DOOR COUNTY: Door County AIS Control & Education Project


The Door County Soil and Water conservation Department proposes to conduct an aquatic invasive species (AIS) education, prevention, planning and control project in partnership with the Door county Invasive Species Team during the period of October 2009 to December 2011. The project elements and deliverables are specified in the Door County Soil and Water Conservation Department\2019s Aquatic Invasive Species Control grant application, dated July 30, 2009. The project includes hiring a coordinator; increase the Landscape of Distinction partner roles and responsibilities; organize and implement (AIS) control techniques training sessions annually; organize AIS work parties throughout the county; log volunteer hours for AIS work throughout county; use GIS technology to map AIS throughout county and where control efforts have taken place; maintain DCIST website with invasive species information; expand CBCW/Watercraft inspection program through local schools, DNR/Work Force development Program, and Fishing Tournaments; increase the use of the DCIST equipment loan program. The grantee will provide the DNR AIS Coordinator with a draft of an annual report and final report for comment on report adequacy prior to requesting reimbursement. DNR to receive both paper and electronic .pdf copies of the reports along with, or prior to, submission of grantee\2019s final payment request. Watercraft inspection records are to be entered into the State\2019s online Watercraft Inspection Database.
