Shell Lake Data Review and Assessment - NOR18_11
Return to Search
The City of Shell Lake has a water regulation permit to divert water from the lake to the Yellow River during high water to prevent flooding of homes on the lake. This permit requires annual water quality monitoring on the river and the lake, as well as biological and hydogeological studies as part of a 10-year long term monitoring effort (also required by the permit). This project calls for FTE and LTE time to complile, review and validate the past 5 years of data collected and reports submitted to look for trends and offer recommendations on further work needed.
Complile, review and validate the past 5 years of data collected and reports submitted to look for trends and offer recommendations on further work needed. Identify data outliers and potential reporting errors. Review water regulation and Basin Supervisor project files to be sure the official case file (the water reg file) has originals of all pertinent information and correspondence.
Data and plans submitted by the City are reviewed and a summary of usable data is compiled. Assessment of lake and river conditions and trends are identified and described in the summary. Inaccurate data is flagged and omitted from trend analysis. Recommendations for future monitoring are formulated for sharing with the Shell Lake Diversion Technical Oversight Committee at the next annual meeting.
