GPSP basin, Lower Rock, and LWR basin Identification Validation of 303(d) Impaired Waters

Purpose

Several waters which are currently listed on the state's list of impaired waters have not had data collected in many years. This project will look at fish, macroinvertebrates, and water chemistry (where relevant) to determine these streams status and whether or not their status as impaired waters is justified. There are several streams in these basins which, based on historical data, may be impaired, but has not been monitored within the last 20 years. Data will be collected during the calendar year, 2009.

Objective

Identification and validation of 303(d) and potential 303(d) waters in the GPSP, Lower Rock, and LWR basin. This data will be used to update the status of and verify the listing of these waters as impaired. If this is not the case, then the data will be used to propose de-listing of these sites. Several streams may be impaired but are currently not listed. Data collected for this project will be used to determine if they should be on the impaired waters list.
