Upper Yahara River Watershed Evaluation SCR 11_11 Yahara River WBIC # 798300

Purpose

Data will be collected at 8 locations on the Upper Yahara River (WBIC 798300) from Town of Windsor to the Village of DeForest. Fish IBI surveys and Macroinvertebrate HBI samples will be collected at all 8 locations. This project is to support the Friends group " The Friends of the Upper Yahara River Headwaters". They are a proactive watershed based group looking at trying to protect and restore this section of the Yahara River.

Objective

The data that is collected will be used to help the Upper Yahara River Headwaters group make scientific recommendations on things they can do to protect this section of river. Data collected will assist in supporting data for applications for various grant opportunities. This data will also be used to document the continued expansion of the greater DeForest and Windsor communities. This area of river contains some outstanding aquatic and terrestrial communities that the village and town are trying to protect.
