ROCK RIVER COALITION, INC: Citizen Stream Monitoring in Dodge County


Rock River Coalition (RRC) is sponsoring a River Planning grant to expand basic stream monitoring in accordance with Water Action Volunteer (WAV) protocols and nutrient testing in targeted streams in the Upper Rock River Basin in Dodge Co. in Nine Key Element Areas. Specific Project Activities Include: 1) RRC will hire a part-time program assistant to work in Dodge County recruiting local volunteers, arranging and participating in initial training and communicating with volunteers to keep them updated and engaged, providing ongoing consultation to stream monitoring teams regarding methodology and data collection/reporting. 2) Meeting with partners (DNR, Dodge County Land and Water Conservation Department, Dodge County Healthy Soil/Healthy Water Alliance, Beaver Dam Lake Improvement Association, Lake Sinissippi Association, and The Fox Lake Inland Lake Protection & Rehabilitation District). Determining feasibility and locations for stream monitoring in Dodge County. 3) Conduct outreach campaign to Dodge County community and partners to promote awareness of Rock River Coalition\2019s work and local water quality conservation projects along with new tools for data sharing and our program. Project deliverables include: 1) Name and credentials of person hired. Record volunteer recruitment activities, such as lake group newsletters, local newspapers, places where talks were given on volunteer stream monitoring given. Report time and location of trainings, number of participants, names of participants that commit to monitoring a station. DNR station number of streams to be monitored. DNR station number of streams to be monitored. All data will be entered into SWIMS. 2) Summary of Partners' meeting(s) describing the participating partners, monitoring needs, water quality concerns, etc. 3) Share updated stream monitoring map and Dodge County story map.
