Purpose
Randal Piete and His LTEs will conduct a post Shell Lake diversion Mussel Survey on the Yellow River between HWY 70 and the Spooner Hatchery facility utilizing NOR FTE & LTE staff for support to resurvey stations that were used during the prediversion survey.
Objective
This project seeks to assess current conditions within the Yellow River mussel community and assess if the Shell Lake diversion modified the community structure. This information will be used to determine if future diversions will be allowed.
Outcome
This monitoring effort will cover sites above and below the Shell Lake diversion point of discharge within thew Yellow River. A single summer sampling event will be completed at each sampling site between late May and early August. Data will be summarized by Feb/March 2009. A summary report will be completed by May 2009
