GREEN LAKE ASSOCIATION, INC.: RM-LPT- Dakin Creek Stream Restoration in Big Green Lake Watershed


Green Lake Association is sponsoring a project to address the impacts from eroded stream banks and a perched culvert; poor water quality; a barrier to fish passage; degraded trout habitat; and excessive nutrient loading to Big Green Lake. Project final deliverables include: Documented 3400 feet of streambank stabilization, replacement of the perched culvert on Dakin Creek at Skunk Hollow Rd and reintroduction of brook trout. Specific project activities include: 1. Prepare and obtain approval of the landowner agreements, grant applications, construction permits, project bids and stream restoration plans necessary to restore the targeted streambank areas on Dakin Creek by July 30th, 2019. 2. Implement grading/shaping, tree revetments, lunker structures, large tree removal, rock riprap, and remove obstructions of 3400\2019 of streambanks. Final report with photo documentation will be sent to DNR Water Resources staff by December 31st, 2020. 3. Keep the DNR Water Resources program updated on the water quality monitoring in Dakin Creek. Through December 31st, 2022. 4. Replace perched culvert on Skunk Hollow Rd with proposed culvert design by September 30th, 2019. 5. Install trout habitat enhancements in partnership with Green Lake County LCD, TU, and DNR Trout Habitat Specialists (6 lunker structures and woody bank stabilizations). Enhancements completed with photo documentation to the DNR Water Resources Program by December 31st, 2020. 6. Reintroduce brook trout in Spring or Fall 2020.
