LAKE NOKOMIS LAKE DISTRICT: Lake Nokomis Management Plan Update

Purpose

Activities: Lake Nokomis Lake District is sponsoring a project which will focus on updating a Lake Management Plan (LMP) for Nokomis and Bridge Lakes. Project activities include: 1) Stakeholder participation, stakeholder survey, planning meetings (up to 3), stakeholder survey development, kick-off meeting, wrap-up meeting; 2) Water quality sampling and analysis; 3) Watershed assessment update, phosphorus load modeling, and TMDL integration; 4) Fisheries data compilation; 5) Shoreland assessment (on Bridge Lake); 6) Professional Dreissena monitoring; 7) Aquatic plant point-intercept surveys and plant community mapping; 8) Annual EWM peak biomass survey; 9) Clean Boats, Clean Waters (CBCW) inspections; 10) Data analysis; 11) Develop a LMP update that combines plans for Nokomis and Bridge lakes. Project deliverables include: 1) Stakeholder survey; 2) Water chemistry data; 3) Watershed maps and modeling data; 4) Point-intercept, and shoreland survey data; 5) Aquatic plant community and EWM peak biomass survey maps; 6) Aquatic plant vouchers for any new species in the lakes; 7) Dreissena adult and veliger monitoring data; 8) CBCW data; 9) Updated LMP. Specific project conditions: 1) Draft of stakeholder survey needs Dept review and approval; 2) Draft of LMP needs Dept review and approval. 3) WDNR Lakes Management Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of LMP, stakeholder survey, data from surveys, watershed assessment, water quality and Dreissena sampling, all maps from project, all GIS data, and aquatic plant vouchers for any new species.
