RIVER ALLIANCE OF WISCONSIN: Oconomowoc River Chain of Lakes Nearshore Fish Surveys

Purpose

The proposed project is the first effort to assess the status of rarely monitored fish populations within the Oconomowoc River Chain of Lakes system and Rock Lake. The goal is to collect information nearshore and river fish populations that had not been surveyed since either 1975 or 2004. The findings of the study may have important management implications and will establish a baseline for additional surveys within the proposed study area and beyond. Project final deliverables include: Final report that includes fish collection survey results, site characteristics, discussion and recommendations. Information may be useful for critical areas designations. Specific project activities include: 1) Electrofishing of Riverine and Lake Shoreline surveys at designated sites 2) Habitat Monitoring at all sites; 3) Dissolved Oxygen, Temperature, pH, Conductivity monitoring and Lat/Long descriptions will occur at all sites Special Conditions: 1) All data shall be entered into the SWIMS/Fisheries Management database; 2) River Alliance of Wisconsin will share the final report to DNR Fisheries, Endangered Resources, Lakes Program, Rivers Program, Oconomowoc River Protection Program (OWPP), Rock River Coalition and SEWRPC. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application and does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein.
