LANGLADE COUNTY: LCO-Langlade County Shoreland Health Classification - PHASE I

Purpose

Activities: Langlade County Land and Water Conservation Dept is sponsoring a lake protection grant to monitor shorelands and begin implementing shoreland improvement, stormwater reduction, or other Healthy Lakes projects in Langlade County. Project activities include: 1) Collect baseline shoreland and shallows data on 4-6 lakes using the DNR protocol; 2) Analyze the shoreland survey data, create maps, and identify potential sites for Healthy Lakes practices; 3) Apply for a Phase 2 Lake Protection grant to survey additional lakes, classify shoreline health on lakes throughout the county, and conduct additional landowner information and education; 4) Develop final report. Project deliverables include: 1) Shoreland data; photos, and maps; 2) Phase 2 lake protection grant application; 3) Final report. Specific project conditions: Draft of final report needs Dept review and approval. WDNR Lake Biologist will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copy of final report, shoreland data, photos, all maps from project, and all GIS data.
