Purpose: River Alliance is sponsoring an AIS Education, Prevention and Planning grant to fund an AIS coordinator position for the Mississippi River Basin in La Crosse, Buffalo and Trempealeau Counties Project activities: Train AIS volunteers (Project RED, CLMN, Bridge snapshot day), participate in Statewide AIS initiatives, distribute AIS materials, meet with marina managers, issue news releases, CBCW, install AIS signs, monitor for AIS along Mississippi River, build community capacity. Project deliverables: Trained AIS/Project RED volunteers, raised awareness of AIS in business community, data entered into SWIMS, annual reports with maps, established stakeholder group, examples of education and outreach materials, agendas and minutes from meetings, Rapid Response plans as necessary. Special conditions: WDNR Lakes Coordinator will be provided with an electronic (pdf or word) copies of annual reports. Sponsor will work with regional WDNR AIS Coordinator if new AIS are found.
