SOUTHWEST BADGER R C & D: AIS NORTH Education, Prevention, Planning and Implementation

Southwest Badger Resource Conservation & Development will monitor for AIS and conduct outreach and education in the Driftless Region of Southwest Wisconsin, (specifically, LacCrosse, Vernon, Crawford, Richland, and Sauk Counties), in addition to acting as AIS rapid response liaison with DNR. They will also begin implementing an AIS plan for the West Fork Pecatonica River watershed where Japanese hop and other aquatic invasive species are located, to help control new and existing populations. Outreach will be accomplished via developing and enhancing social media, hosting work parties to attract volunteers, and build relationships with landowners, and local and other government staff. Partnership building will include soliciting commitments to further peoples actions for reducing spread and controlling AIS. Project results will be shared through press releases and newsletters, website and Facebook, mailing lists, and at monthly meetings.
