Inland Lake Continuous Temperature Monitoring


Inland lakes experience different stratification regimes as a result of physical and thermal properties such as depth, size, color, and climate. This project will use continuous temperature loggers deployed at the surface and at depth, near the deep hole of lakes to investigate how these properties affect stratification. The lakes chosen for study represent combinations of these properties.


The hourly temperature data will allow for detailed analysis of each lake's seasonal changes in temperature. The lakes selected are otherwise well studied, so the temperature data may also be used together with other data sets to gain a more complete picture of the lake ecosystem.
