ROCK RIVER COALITION, INC: Actually Restorable Wetlands in the Rock River Basin

Purpose

Rock River Coalition, INC. ( Actually Restorable Wetlands in Rock River Basin) Overall goal: Using GIS refine the WDNR\2019s potentially restorable wetland maps, this will focus on large contiguous single ownership wetlands that will be prioritized on the potential for restoration. This layer would be shared with several partners that will be working with private landowners that have interest in restoring wetlands back to proper function. Deliverables: 1-Contract with UW Madison (Land Information and Computer Graphics Facility) to overlay property boundaries and Potentially Restorable Wetlands to focus on those that fall within single properties and have a strong restoration potential. Creating an Actual Restorable Wetland (AWR) list. This will be a ARW layer which will become part of web-based interactive map for wetland restoration partners to utilize. 2- Based on the list of properties generated from item 1, field inspect a subset of ARW\2019s. At least 20 sites will be field verified. Provide a set of notes from field inspections. 3- Create an interactive GIS system for analysis that utilizes: soils, property boundaries, and Wisconsin Wetland Inventory to create an interactive GIS map on a web-based platform. Maintain this data layer for at least one year. 4- Generate and share a GIS layer with ARW\2019s with wetland restoration partners. This would provide valuable information to partners for future wetland restoration efforts. Provide partners with portable hard drives containing the final ARW layer. 5- Generate a mailing list of property owners of the ARW\2019s that will be delivered to wetland restoration partners. Thus, providing the first step in making initial contacts with landowners. Generating a EXCEL file that can be shared.
