SOUTHWEST BADGER R C & D: Southwest Badger AIS Education, Prevention & Planning (South)

Purpose

Southwest Badger RC&D is sponsoring a project to monitor, educate, plan, & coordinate response to AIS in the southern portion of Wisconsin\2019s driftless area. Project deliverables include:Prioritized areas for AIS control as part of a control plan, support group, funding plan, & list of land owners, documentation of training workshops & other events, including agenda & number of participants, & copies of news releases. Specific project activities include: 1) Convene a diverse group to create a control plan for specific species & locations, form a support group to follow through on that plan; promote the plan by conducting educational events; begin plan implementation by gathering agreements with property owners & conducting plant control demonstrations; 2) Conduct project RED training; 3) do AIS monitoring & coordinate high priority rapid response projects by recruiting & training volunteer crews to assist; 4) assist road crews in developing smart mowing plans; 5) deliver AIS Take a Break training session to targeted groups; 6) provide regional CBCW training to groups in region; 7) provide New Zealand Mudsnail outreach & education. Special Conditions: 1) Coordinating CBCW program is outside the scope of this grant; 2) All data shall be entered into the SWIMS database; 3) Activity 3a described in the application is not funded as part of this grant. This scope summarizes the project detail provided in the application & does not negate tasks/deliverables described therein. Data, records, & reports, including GIS-based maps, & digital images, must be submitted to the Department in a format specified by the regional Lake Biologist. If consultant is to provide final report, it is recommended that Grantee provide DNR Lake Coordinator with a draft for comment on report adequacy prior to making final payment to the consultant. DNR to receive both paper & electronic .pdf copies of the final report along with, or prior to submission of grantee's final payment request.
