Complete
In 2016, the Rock Lake Improvement Association (RLIA), in collaboration with the Jefferson County Land and Water Conservation Department, received a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to update Rock Lakes management plan. The updated Rock Lake Management Plan contains background on Rock Lake and its watershed, factors impacting the lake, and the Vision, Goals, and Recommendations of the plan.
Grant Awarded
The Rock Lake Improvement Association is sponsoring a project to update the Rock Lake Management Plan. This will involve evaluating trends and current quality of the lake and watershed, engaging citizens, and make a plan for topics including water quality, fish, wildlife, habitat, invasive species, recreation, pollution, shoreland development and lake/watershed institutions and laws.
Project final deliverables include: a summary of lake and watershed status; an up-to-date land use map of the watershed with estimated nonpoint source loading; plant data and maps; EVAAL model output with map of agricultural hotspots for erosion; results of a social survey; and a final comprehensive management plan containing a prioritized list of lake management recommendations.
Specific project activities include: Surveying stakeholders, holding public meetings, collecting water and watershed data, using the EVAAL model on the agricultural areas of the watershed. All information will be incorporated into a final comprehensive management plan update for Rock Lake.
