Directed Lakes 2016 Bunk

Hasmer Lake was listed on the spreadsheet for candidates for Directed Lakes (priority 5). I chose this lake because the DNR recently put in a canoe launch and ADA public fishing pier. Interested fisherman, who could never access this lake before, often contact me asking about the water quality in this lake. We do not have any data for this lake due to the previous lack of access. Camp Lake and Center Lake were chosen at the request of Craig Helker. Both lakes need an updated aquatic plant management plan, and a consultant will be conducting a full P/I survey on both lakes in 2016. This plan is needed in order for the Lake District to receive another NR 109 harvesting permit in the future. The TSI data will be helpful for the development of the updated APM plan. Center Lake is listed as a priority 5 on the spreadsheet for Directed Lakes. Camp was not listed originally. After consulting historical data, I do not agree with the satellite assessment for water quality data (rated as "good"). Historically, both lakes look to be on the low end of eutrophic (TSI values 49-53). Neither lake has been able to sustain a long term CLMN volunteer.
Hasmer: Establish general water quality, aquatic plant community and AIS community for this lake. Previous sampling was not conducted on this lake due to the historical lack of public access. Camp and Center: Both lake have historical data demonstrating higher TSI values (49-53). P/I data needed for an updated APM plan and multiple year APM permit.
3 sets of TSI data for each lake; P/I survey for each lake and AIS Directed Lakes protocol survey for each lake. All data to be collected by Bunk and Posnanski with the exception of the P/I surveys on Camp and Center Lake, which will be conducted by Lake and Pond Solutions, a local consultant. No volunteers will be collecting data for this project.
Sample Camp and Center Lakes in Kenosha County following the directed lakes protocol. A consultant will be conducting the P/I surveys on both lakes in the summer of 2016. DNR will conduct three sets of sampling between July 15th and September 15th, 2016 for TP and Chlorophyll a, as well as temperature, D.O., Conductivity and pH profiles. AIS sampling protocol (one 2 hour approximate sampling event for each lake) will also be followed using the Eckman dredge in the deep hole and the 6 sets of D-net sampling in the near shore area. Sample Hasmer Lake in Washington County following the directed lakes protocol. A full P/I survey will be conducted. Three sets of samples will be taken between July 15th and September 15th, 2016 for TP and Chlorophyll a, as well as temperature, D.O., Conductivity and pH profiles. AIS sampling protocol (one 2 hour approximate sampling event) will also be followed using the Eckman dredge in the deep hole and the 6 sets of D-net sampling in the near shore area. Sampling will take place by canoe.
