Exploring the Bay: Touring the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve and Cat Island Chain Restoration Project
Return to Search
On behalf of the Green Bay AOC Citizens Advisory Committee, the Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance (FWWA) is seeking funding for the Clean Bay Backers’ Exploring the Bay: Touring the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve and Cat Islands Chain project proposal. For initiation of this project, FWWA is requesting $1,900 to cover the costs of van rental, printed materials, and promotional items needed for the tour. The tour, targeted at legislators, local officials, and community leaders, will discuss the recovery efforts and the continuing threats to the environmental integrity of the waters of Green Bay.
The purpose of this grant proposal is to outline and describe the overall outreach project for the AOC Citizens Advisory Committee for the Summer of 2015. Building on the 2014 Foxy Lady Boat Tour, the CAC would like to again coordinate a tour of the lower bay area with special points of interest including the Barkhausen Waterfowl Preserve and the recently reconstructed Cat Island chain. There will be presenters and educators available to discuss the recovery efforts and the continuing threats to the environmental integrity of the waters of Green Bay.
Following the CAC’s commitment and dedication to creating awareness for the Green Bay AOC, the CAC will coordinate this tour in order to showcase the restoration efforts in the bay, outline the top priorities for continued work, and continue to track the overall knowledge and opinion of priority projects in the AOC. One guided tour for up to 96 people with a minimum of 48 people, tour date, tour route, educational speakers, invitation list, feedback report, messaging information, number of educational handouts distributed, number of people reached, press releases, and number of community volunteers. All funds related to this project will be expended by September 30, 2015. One quarterly report (due in early July for grant activity through June) will be completed, as will a final report following the completion of this project.
