THE NATURE CONSERVANCY: Restoring the Riparian...Pecatonica

Purpose

The project will take place in the Military Ridge Prairie Heritage Area. The diverse partnership of conservation organizations are protecting and restoring a patchwork of prairies and other grassland habitats along the Dane and Iowa County border. The main intent of the restoration work described in this proposal is to return a stretch of the East Branch of the Pecatonica River and its flood plain to as close to its pre-European settlement condition as possible. A full description of the project goal and objectives are in the grant application, which is a part of this application. The DNR will be provided with both a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. Information will be disseminated to the public as described in the grant application.
