Large Scale Lake Planning
The Sokaogon Chippewa Community is sponoring a phased project. Two grants are being awarded for the second set of a long-term project. The two grants for the second phase of this project will be reviewed together for final approval. This grant is funding Phase two of this project which will look at the long-term impacts of the introduction of zebra mussels on Lake Metonga including an evaluation of the effects on water chemistry, phytoplankton, zooplankton, zebra mussels, crayfish, and fish species (walleye and perch). Deliverables for this project include an annual progress report detailing the methods, results, data, and management recommendations that can be determined from the data collected. The project will also have periodic press releases regarding findings and status of the report to local groups and news media.
The final report and all raw data will be submitted in both hard copy and electronic (pdf) format to the Department.
