Large Scale Lake Planning
The Island Lake Survey was a joint project, initiated between the Iron County UW-Extension Office and the Price County Land Conservation Department, in 1997, to research how people view, value, and use water resources. The Island Lake project focused only on a survey of property owners on that lake and primarily on what they valued about their lake. The Price County project surveyed lakeshore property owners county wide and included more issues such as drinking water quality.
The Gilbert Lake Advancement Association proposes to evaluate the effect of the supplemental enhancement of weevil populations as a selective aquatic plant management technique to control Myriophyllum spicatum. Project activities will result in a field evaluation of experimental weevil stocking, a status report and presentation to the lake group, and a final report including feasibility recommendations. The Department of Natural Resources will be provided with a paper copy and an electronic copy of the final report. Information about the project will be disseminated to the public by fact sheet distribution, public meetign, and summary report mailing.
