Large Scale Lake Planning
Lake planning report for LPL-381 for Half Moon Lake. The study is part of a long range plan to preserve the quality of the water in the lake and to preserve and enhance the unique characteristics of the area. Includes wetland and bog evaluations in the Half Moon Lake watershed.
The Half Moon Lake Protection and Rehabilitation District proposes to develop a long range plan for the protection/acquisition of critical wetlands in the Half Moon Lake watershed. Project activities include 1) analysis and evaluation of the four principal wetlands in the watershed, 2) determining the relationship of the four areas to the total lake ecosystem, 3) analysis of wetland laws and relationship to lake district goals, 4) determine best protection alternatives including financing and funding alternatives, and 5) determine reasonable timeline for the acquisition of or other protective measures in wetland areas. A final report will be prepared discussing the project activities and results. A paper copy and an electronic copy of the report will be provided to the Department of Natural Resources. Information about the project will be disseminated to the public by newsletter mailing, factsheet distribution, summary report mailing, and public meeting.
