TMDL ID = 234: dam downstream 2.3 miles (2006 update - update AU) This AU: Kreyer Creek to Lake Tomah dam. Low stream gradient, low channel roughness, nutrients contributing to algae blooms causing large swings in diurnal dissolved oxygen concentrations in Lake Tomah.

A new Tomah WWTP was built in 1999 east of the old WWTP with an outfall immediately downstream of where Council Creek enters the So. Fk. of the Lemonweir River. Large rock was placed in Council Creek and the So. Fk. of the Lemonweir River upstream and downstream of the new outfall to improve channel roughness and aeration. Continuous dissolved oxygen monitoring throughout the impaired river miles should be conducted to determine existing conditions since upgrade and movement of the Tomah WWTP outfall and improvement in channel roughness in the river.
This water was assessed during the 2014 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data overwhelmingly exceed 2014 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Fish and Aquatic Life use, however, no biological data (i.e. no macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scores) were available to assess biological impairment).
This water was assessed during the 2016 listing cycle; total phosphorus sample data exceed 2016 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use and biological impairment was observed (i.e. at least one macroinvertebrate or fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scored in the poor condition category).
This water was assessed during the 2018 listing cycle; new macroinvertebrate sample data exceeded 2018 WisCALM listing criteria for the Fish and Aquatic Life use (i.e. at least one macroinvertebrate Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) average scored in the poor condition category).
This water is part of the Wisconsin River TMDL.
