This portion of the Yellowstone River was evaluated for biology every two years between 2014 and 2022. This segment was put on the Impaired Waters List in the 2014 cycle. In the 2020 cycle a slight improvement was seen, but delisting was postponed until it's clear the bug community is healthy.

This water was assessed during the 2020 listing cycle; new biological (macroinvertebrate and fish Index of Biotic Integrity (IBI) scores) sample data were clearly below 2020 WisCALM listing thresholds for the Aquatic Life use. In 2020 a slight improvement was seen in macroinvertebrate community health, but delisting was postponed until it's clear the macroinvertebrate community is healthy.
