Willow River State Park Nature center

Outside the nature centerThe nature center is about two miles west of the park entrance next to the main picnic area. Explore the many hands-on displays and see live animals. Park naturalists host many interpretive programs throughout the year.


Open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Open Tuesday through Friday (11 a.m. - 3 p.m.); Saturdays and Sundays (11 a.m. - 4 p.m.); closed Mondays.

Things to do

Learn about reptiles and meet snake and turtles. Explore the many hands on exhibits and learn some local history.

Park naturalists host many interpretive programs in the nature center throughout the year. See the Get Outdoors! Events Calendar for a list of all nature programs and events.

Wisconsin Explorer patchesBecome a Wisconsin Explorer and discover the natural world. Pick up a booklet at the nature center. The booklets are full of hands-on, exciting and educational activities for days on the beach, rainy days at home or starry nights. Complete at least half of activities and return it to any state park, forest or recreation area. Receive a patch and certificate for completing the activities.

A gift shop is in the Nature Center. All proceeds go to the friends group.
